OPENING OF NEW AFC BRANCH & LAUNCH OF NEW PRODUCTS & CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARTER
    7TH APRIL 2009

The Corporation has developed new products and services targeting agri-business traders in Nairobi and its environs. The official opening ceremony and launch of new products and Service Charter was presided over by the Minister for Agriculture, Hon. William arap Ruto at Development House on 7th April 2009.

This opens up the opportunity for traders who would require credit at short notice.  Stawisha, a micro-credit product targeting traders in agricultural produce and the Vuna Account, a transaction based product, is proof that AFC is bracing itself for responding to the challenging business environment. Through Stawisha, the Corporation has loosened lending conditions, to allow low agri-traders without title deeds to borrow as groups.

The new products which target small-scale traders or groups will enable them build up their cash collateral through the new Relationship Account. Through this account the Corporation will offer more comprehensive on-the-counter services to the farmers who will have their loans processed and accessed through their account as opposed to payment through bankers- cheques that are cleared through commercial banks. This reduces transactional cost related to loan disbursement.

This new business approach demands that we re-align the Corporation’s operation systems to respond to the current market paradigm- that of efficiency, low costs and quality customer service. The alignment process requires an extensive further review of service delivery systems and product portfolio, and to identify new investment opportunities to effectively face the growing challenge posed by market dynamics.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARTER

These innovations together with the Customer Service Charter are proof of the new strategic direction the Corporation is charting. One that endeavors to work closely with the customers in order to improve the value proposition to them as well as work towards their ever changing needs.

The Customer Service Charter therefore is a statement of our renewed commitment to our customers and developed with the belief that customers are at the centre of everything we say and do, the manner in which we intend to relate with them - the services they should expect from us, the manner in which these services will be delivered and the recourse to take in the event of inadequacy.

The charter has been developed with input from customers and stakeholders including the media, community representatives and staff of AFC.

Our promise and commitment is to embrace the principles and ethos of good corporate governance which include accountability, effectiveness, integrity and transparency in order to maintain high quality relationships with our stakeholders.
