Inaugural Agribusiness Investors’ Summit

The Agricultural Finance Corporation was a key partner at the Inaugural Agribusiness Investors’ summit, which took place on the 16th-17th March at the Strathmore Business School. As the key Government agency mandated to finance agriculture in the country, this summit provided AFC with a platform to show case their products and services. The summit also brought together key players in the agribusiness sector, providing them with an opportunity to engage with experts and acquire facts about investing in agriculture to be able to make informed decisions and choices, while getting to see what the sector has to offer. According to the AFC Managing Director Mr. Lucas Meso, “To better access financing, agribusiness investors should be keen on understanding the value chain of their produce as well as be cognizant of how various risks along the chain can be mitigated.” He was addressing the 300 agribusiness investors who attended the summit where he gave a presentation on Innovative Financing for Agribusiness Ventures. In his speech as The Guest Speaker at the summit, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, said that because the world of agribusiness is shifting and its growth is increasing in demand as the world’s population continues to grow, there is need to develop and grow new technologies, skills and knowledge to increase productivity and deliver food and agribusiness products around the globe.
