Corporate sponsorship Kshs.10,000/= was made towards the Cerebral Palsy Society
of Kenya charity walk (CPSK). A few staff represented the Corporation in the
walk. Funds raised are in aid of construction of a rehabilitation centre for

Cerebral Palsy
Society of Kenya is a non-profit making organization set up by parents of
children with cerebral palsy (CP)
CP is a
developmental disability caused by brain damage shortly before, during or after
birth. It describes a group of conditions in which brain damage affects a
person’s ability to move and control his/her muscles.

AN 8th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The
Corporation continuously supported the Korogocho Caretakers Orphans &
Education Centre to share their celebration and joy during their 8th
Anniversary celebration held on the 18th July 2008.
The
jubilation of the event was marked when the Area chief awarded a piece of land
to the founder Mrs. Josephine Ameyo in which the Caretakers Educational Centre
shall be built.

KENYA FREEDOM FROM HUNGER WALK
AFC donated
Kshs.70, 000/= to Kenya Freedom from Hunger Fund to be utilized in various
water projects for the disadvantaged regions within the nation.
A group of over 80
members of staff from Agricultural Finance Corporation participated in this
year’s FREEDOM FROM HUNGER WALK on 17th May 2008. The walk was flagged off from Nyayo Stadium
by the Minister for Agriculture Hon. William S. Rutto at 8.00am. Also in
attendance were, AFC Managing Director, Mr. Omurembe Iyadi and the Deputy
Managing Director, Mrs. G. Nasieku Tarayia.

AFC Staff Re-visit Caretakers Nursery and Children’s’ Feeding
Centre at Korogocho
AFC
staff revisited the Caretakers children’s home in Korogocho on 20th March, 2008. Food stuff
and clothing worth Kshs.28, 350/=
were donated to the home.
This was a
Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by members of staff after their
initial one last year sponsored by the Corporation. It is no doubt that this
indeed helped put a smile on a child’s face this Easter.
In the 2007-2008 financial year, the
corporation, in its endeavour to give back to the society has
participated in various social responsibility activites that involved
full participation by the members of staff.

HEARING AIDS TO ILBISSIL BOARDING PRIMARY SCHOOL
In an answer to a call for help by the
Ilbissil Boarding Primary school in Kajiado, the corporation was able
to donate Kshs.63, 060/= towards the purchase of three hearing aids for
the deaf children in the school.
CARE TAKERS NURSERY & ORPHANS FEEDING CENTRE
On the 16 th November, 2007 a group of
staff from head office visited the Care Takers Nursery & Orphans
Feeding Centre at Korogocho slums in Kariobangi North where the
Corporation donated food stuff worth kshs. 20,000/=. The staff present
were so moved by the difficult circumstances that the innocent children
were living in that they vowed to revisit the place again if only to
put a smile on the children’s faces during Christmas. The visit
was on 20 th December, 2007
KENYA BREAST HEALTH PROGRAM
The month of October is a breast
health awareness campaign month. On the 6th of October, 2007 all roads
led to Carnivore grounds where the Annual Breast health awareness walk
was flagged off by the South African Ambassador. The corporation
donated Kshs.50, 000/= towards the purchase of a mobile mammography
clinic to be used in the rural areas where men and women have been
unable to reach medical attention in good time to save their breast.-

DONATION TO KENYA FAMILY CHARITIES (KFC)
KFC’s mission is to promote education and training for the less advantaged children/youth. The corporation donated Kshs. 15,000/= to a fundraiser towards the education and training promotional event held by the KFC on 1 st September, 2007 at the Bomas of Kenya.
NABWANI YOUTH HIV/AIDS CHALLENGE FOOTBALL & NETBALL SPORTS TOURNAMENT 2007
In support of the community based organizations and youth, the corporation has donated two (2) branded trophies worth Kshs. 20,000/= to be awarded to the finalists in the ongoing football and netball tournament. The final match is scheduled for 26 th December, 2007.
CELEBRAL PALSY SOCIETY OF KENYA (CPSK)
The CPRSK
provides therapy, rehabilitation and support services, create awareness
about the condition and promotes legislative policy for the rights of
persons with cerebral palsy. The corporation donated Kshs. 20,000/= and also participated in this year’s CPSK annual charity walk on 7 th July, 2007.
SOS MEDICAL CAMP – MERU
The Corporation through Meru branch gave Kshs. 10,000/= to sponsor SOS Children’s Village Meru’s annual medical camp to mark the day of the African Child held on 16 th June 2007
WAJIR-CATARACT SURGERY
Through the Kenya Society for the Blind the corporation offered medical support to eleven (11) children from Wajir district to undergo a cataract surgery and other related medical interventions as Kikuyu eye unit in May 2007. An amount of Kshs.68, 000/= was donated to cater for transport and hospitalization of the children at Kikuyu hospital.
FREEDOM FROM HUNGER WALK
The corporation participated in the
annual Freedom from Hunger walk to propagate the theme of the day-
“Conserve the Environment for food security” held on 26th
May 2007. A donation n of Kshs. 100,000/= was given to the freedom from
hunger council to assist in fighting hunger, malnutrition and ensure
food security for all Kenyans.
