Our History
Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) is a government owned, non-bank development financial institution established through AFC Act Cap 323 of the Laws of Kenya. At inception, AFC was incorporated to take over the credit functions of the pre-independence European and African Agricultural Boards. The main function during those early years was to assist in the transfer of land from European Colonial settlers to indigenous Kenyan farmers. AFC was reconstituted in 1969 and assumed a wider mandate by taking over the functions of the Land and Agricultural Bank of Kenya.
