General Manager – Business Development

We are a State Corporation in the rural finance sector. Our objective and focus is to deliver products and services that impact positively on poverty by supporting food production and the improvement of rural incomes through job creation.

In order to achieve the above objective we have developed an appropriate business strategy and a suitable organizational structure to support the effective implementation of the strategy. In line with this new business strategy, we are seeking to recruit a high caliber result oriented Business Development Manager who will be responsible for the overall management of the Corporation’s Business Development department. The job holder will report to the Managing Director.

 The job title will be as follows:-

General Manager – Business Development

Job Grade - G13

 Responsibilities

• Plans, supervises and coordinates the operations of the Corporation’s Business Development Department;
• Designs and implements business development strategies aimed at boosting the Corporation’s business volume and securing its position as the financial institution of choice for the development of the agricultural sector in Kenya;
• Oversees the Marketing, Corporate Communications and Resource Mobilization functions;
• Works closely with Government Departments, Development partners and other stakeholders with at view to promoting AFC as the best institution for partnership in rural agricultural finance;
• Interfaces with other institutions in the country to develop business partnerships;
• Fosters a comprehensive understanding of the market needs and informs product development and pricing strategies;
• Oversees research and development of new products in consultation with other departments;

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Economics/Business Administration/Marketing/Advertising/Management Communications / Banking.
• Professional Bachelors degree in Economics/Commerce/Statistics/Agriculture/ Management
• Advanced Management Course
• Demonstrate competence in analytical, business strategy, leadership and communication skills

 Experience

10 years experience in a senior position in a business oriented organization, preferably a financial institution.
